Today at school we wrote in cursive
Today in writing, we did our first page of cursive! We traced under curve and down curve. Some people were better than others but I'm sure they'll get use to it. It was REALLY fun. There was a page were you had to write cursive letters that you knew, and had to try and read cursive.

This Week We Will Have...
Math: We have been learning our division facts as well as different strategies! The strategies are: equal groups, repeated subtraction, equal groups with remainders, and repeated subtraction with remainders. Students know to represent remainders with a capital R and then the number. We will have our test this Friday, December 10th. Next week we will be talking about algebra and order of operations. This is one of my favorite things in math to teach EVER!! :)
Reading: We have been talking about compare and contrast. Make sure to try to use our strategy at home when you do your reading HW!
Science: We are waiting for our plants to grow! We planted them last Wednesday. We created hypotheses today about what our plants are going to look like when they "grow". How is your plant going to show growth? What are you going to see?
Writing: We have been visiting poetry and beginning to collect pieces for our anthology. Students will begin our district writing prompt before we leave for break. There is nothing that you need to worry about at home.

Life in the library
On Tuesday November 23, 2010 do to air conditioning problems our class was moved. Where were we moved you ask? To the library! And now you think a tragedy class 301 was moved to the library! After all it was not as big of a tragedy as you think, it was actually kind of an interesting experience. But unfortunately we had to be extremely quiet which for our class is like level 3! That did not effect us much because we were having a multiplication test ( which we all passed with a level of 70% or higher!) But now we are back in the classroom and we are all happy again!

Our Field Trip and Halloween Party!
Today was a great day! We left school at 8:45 and walked to see the sculptures on Poplar Ave. Mike and his wife showed us around their yard with all the sculptures. We were able to touch and play with them. We learned that each sculpture weighs 100s and even 1000s of pounds!
After that, we walked down the street to the Carrboro Fire Department. We learned the 4 important things to remember if we call 911. They are: your name, address, phone number, and what your emergency is. We also learned what to do if we live on the 2nd or 3rd floor. The fire fighter told us that we should have an escape ladder in our rooms to escape in case of a fire.
Then, we walked next door to town hall. Here we heard from different people about how our town works. They talked about different town departments. The highlight of that was when the police chief was talking and the police officers showed up from different places along with the SWAT team!! This was so awesome! There are so many people who help run our town! They are all important in different ways!
Last, we walked up to the cemetery where we answered questions. We had to run around looking for the answers on the different gravestones. We took a quick tour of Carr Mill Mall to see where the mill used to be on our way back to school.
Have a happy and safe Halloween!! :)
